Really Hungry? Try Toby's in Coupeville

Toby's in Coupeville is a restaurant and bar (no kids!) and great for a date with your husband or wife. I actually stopped there to get take-out after a 13 mile run last weekend and I was happy with their buffalo burger and fries. Just remember to get your own ketchup before you leave, they won't give you any in your take-out unless you ask. They also offer seafood like mussels. I asked where to eat in Coupeville at the local coffee bar and they told me that Toby's is the ONLY edible restaurant besides the fancy "Chistopher's," which according to random sources is also great. The woman serving my espresso put it this way, "The only place that is safe to eat out at is Toby's. People come from a ways away to eat there. It is a great restaurant." Now, I only tried one meal, but for a small town it was great and the service was quick and polite. What more can you ask for?

You need to come back to Coupeville. We have lots of great restaurants and your source is wrong & very biased. Of all the towns on Whidbey, I believe Coupeville has the best places to eat.

Yes, Toby's is the place for a pitcher of beer & enjoying the view of Penn Cove. Great mussels, good burgers, & fun.

Try these restaurants with menu specific recommendations:
OYSTERCATCHER: anything--they won best Mussel Chowder & have been in the following magazines, so perhaps they're good: Sunset, Saveur, Seattle Magazine...
KNEAD & FEED: wonderful sandwiches, cinnamon rolls, pastries, pies and soups
MOSQUITO FLEET CHILI: great chili, quiche, baked goods, all natural ingredients, local grass fed beef
BAYLEAF WINE & CHEESE: to-go plates of yummy stuff to take to the beach/park--cheeses, meats, smoked salmon, organic bread, etc.
HEIDI'S COFFEE: wraps, espresso
MIRIAM'S ESPRESSO (other side of HWY) terrific paninis, salads & soups--great prices
TYEE: Comfort food. Mashed potatoes & club sandwiches.
PIZZA FACTORY: It's a franchise, but I think the pizza is great
CHRISTOPHER'S: most anything

I heard the new Vietnamese spot on the wharf is good, but haven't been yet.

So, come running around Central Whidbey again, and try a few of these spots.
